Well I lost 3 pants sizes. Started out wearing at size 22 pair of jeans and now a size 16. I have lost a total of 20lbs.  The scale fluctuates sometimes I’m down 22lbs then back up two. I feel great and I put 110% effort in this bootcamp. I can’t wait to see what I look like in a few more months.

Lost 8 lbs and Dropped 2 Clothing Sizes in 8 Weeks!

Over the past seven weeks i have noticed that I have gained a lot of strength. In terms of the workouts, the push-ups come easier, the squats and lunges are more powerful, and my posture has greatly improved. I really noticed the improved posture as I was reviewing my before and after pictures.

My confidence and energy have greatly increased. I receive a lot of compliments these days and  I no longer want to wear clothes that don’t show off my hard work!   I have motivated others to commit to a healthier lifestyle or so I have been told.

In terms of winning the contest, it’s difficult for me to say why I should win because there a number of people I have noticed that worked just as hard as myself if not harder. In terms of the way the contest was set up, I feel I met all the requirements. I posted weekly; I made every workout including all the Saturdays I was able to. I did the two a day workouts for the second half of the phase which I really think did accelerate results for me. I know this was not a requirement, but I think it pushed me closer to my goal in a shorter amount of time.  I followed the cardio plan set up by you. I worked hard during each and every workout.

Although I did have a few flubs with the nutrition plan, I stayed pretty true to that too. Usually I do one thing or the other, exercise well or eat well. This time I wanted to see what would happen if I did both. I like the results! I know nutrition is something I will always struggle with, but I now feel i have strong fundamental knowledge of how things work. And when you are finished with your book BJ I will be first in line to read it!

I am now wearing the size four pants that I could barely pull up at the beginning of the phase and I am down to a size four jean as well. I can’t believe I am down to a size four.

I started the phase at 138 and I am now down to 130. My goal was to break 130, I haven’t quite done it yet, but I am still happy with my 130. 4 years ago I weighed in at 155 and on a 5′2 body frame, let me tell you it wasn’t pretty. I saw some pictures recently of that time and I could not believe how different I looked and how much better I feel about myself now.

Thanks to you guys for all you do for us boot campers. Your support and motivation make all the difference.

Lost a Combined 36 lbs in 8 Weeks to Get Ready for Their Big Wedding in Mexico!

Here we go, even being a week early for the actual results of the eight week contest ;) , we both have made huge progress as you can see from the pictures.

I will start off…

Being very tall, I gain fat on my face and my midsection.  Following the Get Sexy Boot Camp program has helped me slim that pesky fat down immensely.  I have lost nearly 5 inches around my waist and lost at least one and a half of my chins in the first seven weeks that I have participated in the program.  The biggest obstacles for me were in regards to time and food intake.  As far as time goes, I have a pretty hectic job that forces me to work a quite a bit.  For the first several weeks of boot camp I was only able to attend the morning classes which was also a challenge because before this I didn’t know there were two 6 O’Clock’s in a day!  Because I wanted to kick my fast loss into high gear I was forced to rearrange my work schedule to allow me to come twice a day which brought me to 6 official workouts a week.  I also worked out individually on off days and on workout days when I absolutely couldn’t make two classes.

My second obstacle was eating.  I grew up as a hard gainer.  I could eat piles and piles of food and not put on a pound.  That won’t gain me much sympathy but it comes with its own challenges, it costs a lot of keep a horse fed…  When I was younger that was great, unfortunately for the past two years it hasn’t helped me out at all.  I have put on about 40 lb in the last two years since I quit smoking.  Once I realized I was in sorry shape I wanted to change but kept eating.  Since I have been in the program my diet has taken a 180 and I have been finally eating healthy.  I have figured out ways to keep myself “full” with healthy foods rather than foods with high carbs.  Essentially the program has changed how I eat now and for the rest of my life.

Beyond that my fitness level is fantastic and soon I will be back to where I was 10 years ago.

My stats are below.  Keep in mind that I have been gaining muscle so my relatively low weight loss is kind of skewed.

Chest – Start – 44 in / Finish – 46 in

Waist – Start – 45 in / Finish – 40 in

Weight – Start – 250lbs / Finish – 232lbs

Confidence – Start – Very Low / Finish – Through the Roof!

Now over to Amy…

For me I have never really been an emotional eater per se, however when I am stressed it is a whole ‘nother story. I started gaining weight during nursing school. I felt like I never had time (I really didn’t make time) to work out. I always felt like if I had extra time that I should be using it to study. I also didn’t take the time to make healthy meals; I was always grabbing something on the go. Late night study sessions lead also to extra calorie intake. I would’ve thought when I graduated and started work that I would have more time for myself and would be able to eat better and work out more but with a new job comes new stresses. I work in the ICU as an RN and have discovered that this job requires almost as much studying as nursing school, the difference is instead of grades determining how well I was doing, I have patients, doctors, managers, other nurses and many other disciplines relying on me to do a great job.

There were a couple of things that led me to this boot camp and both made me realize that I needed to make a change and be the healthiest me that I could be. First I went on a trip to Malawi, Africa with a group of nurses and nursing students to research their healthcare system. What I discovered is that the people of Malawi would give anything to have access to adequate food, water and healthcare for them and their families. I had one of those moments where I realized how sad it was that I was in very poor shape and constantly ate very unhealthy foods that they could only dream about.  I started trying to work out and eat better but it seemed to be going nowhere.  The second thing came up when we decided to get married this May, I realized I how I looked and I was eating myself up inside believing I was going to walk down the aisle that way.  Then I saw a morning blend airing that featured get sexy boot camp. I didn’t really think I had what it takes to make that kind of commitment but I made a mental note that when I had some extra money I would consider it. I am soooo glad that I did because it has changed the way I view working out and eating. I work out not only to look better but to fuel my body to become the best body it can be.

I feel I should win the contest because I have done everything possible to excel at this program and my results show it.  I have proved I can commit and do what it takes to be the best person I can be!  Regardless of what happens however, I still win because I will soon be in the best shape of my life!

Enough of that, here are my stats:

Starting Weight 155 lbs ……Now 137!!!

Starting Waist  34 …..  Now 30!!!

“I am down from a 12 to an 8!!!

I did not measure my thighs or arms but I can see a definite improvement in tone and size. I was sooo worried about wearing my strapless wedding dress because of my arms but now I am looking forward to it.

I definitely take more pride in myself.

Thanks,

Mike and Amy

Since beginning this in October, 2008 I have lost 30 pounds! I know that the contest started in January. So. my progress from Jan. until now is this…

In Jan, 2009, I weighed about 145. Right now I weigh 138. That’s down 7 pounds. That doesn’t seem like much, however I am now a true size 8. I just bought a new pair of jeans in this size and actually I think they might be a little large considering I need a belt, and jeans stretch after a few wears. Before the contest I was wearing 10’s and even 12’s. I did not measure myself, but I am very impressed with how toned I have become. My arms have never really had any definition, in fact I have always been self conscious of them, not buying sleeveless clothes etc. Now, I notice a true muscle! I catch myself just looking at them! The muscles in my thighs are very noticable as well. I feel that not only have I lost weight but I look toned and healthy. Not just thinner. My mother was recently here visiting, and I have not seen her since Christmas, she kept complimenting me and commenting on how my body has changed. I am also now getting compliments from work, so I think it has been recently that my “transformation” has become more noticable to people. So… in a nutshell, that is why I should win the contest.:)

Hopefully the pictures show the change.

For the past four months I have committed to changing my lifestyle with regards to my diet and need for exercise.  Knowing I had to lose at least 30 pounds to feel and look healthier, I have remained focused at each workout with a positive attitude.   Now I take time to choose healthier foods while at home, work and out for dinner.  I have an understanding of how food choices will affect both my body and the way I will feel after eating.  In the past when I would work to lose weight, I focused more on just eating salads and smaller portions to lose weight, but would find myself hungry.  Each time I tried I would stop because I didn’t like the hungry feeling.   The changes I have made is by taking more time to make and use fresh foods when cooking to be able to eat without feeling uncomfortable and tired afterward.  I feel that I haven’t been on a “diet” because I am able to eat during the day and not feel hungry by choosing more foods with protein.  In the beginning, I felt changing my diet was going to be the hardest thing for me to change, but after the first few weeks of this program it was easier than I thought.

In regards to the exercise portion, I have learned how to use my own body weight to increase muscle, strength and range of motion.  Exercise does not require the use of expensive equipment, it can be done at home.  It also just takes 20 to 30 minutes of your day.

During the past 7 weeks, I have accomplished a weight loss of 28 pounds.  I started at a weight of 213 and currently at 185.   Along with the weight loss I have gone from a size 38 to 34/35 pants.

The GSBC is excellent and has provided the tools for me to accomplish what no other program has in the last 20 years. The instructors are personable, knowledgeable, dedicated, reliable, creative, and concerned with the well-being of the campers. (Thanks BJ and Naomi for the condolence card in February.)  The participants are the most dedicated and supportive group that I have ever experienced in a fitness/sports environment, thank you to all of you for your kindness and support. For the accomplishments you requested, first the measurable ones: in the first 7 weeks of GSBC, I broke an 8 month weight plateau and dropped 19 pounds for a 9.31% weight loss (204 down to 185), dropped 37 inches, and went from a size 14 jean to a size 10 jean. For work clothing I was wearing a size 18 or 16 and now I’m in 14s and 12s (I don’t have any 10s in my closet any longer, though I wish I did.) Other physical improvements include better posture, more endurance, more cardio fitness -on the bike for sprints I started at level 4 with 18 rpms and I’m now at level 10 with 22 rpms (thanks Topher your music made all the difference!), I can now do a few FULL to the ground pushupsJ, I’m up to using 12# weights for the full camp, and my recent bronchitis only had me down for 5 days and not the usual 14 (my business partners thank you!) I think more importantly than the physical changes are the mental changes that I’ve experienced and that have transcended other parts of my life. The determination, dedication, confidence, tenacity, perseverance, and overall mental toughness that the boot camp has rekindled have been the most beneficial. When my brother died suddenly, I lost my confidence, direction, and belief in myself. I have refocused my energy, my goals, and my attitude with positive results. My high school age son and my neighbor have told me that I’m an inspiration and that my positive energy fills a room, my college son told me I’m back to being the strong mother I was before my brother died, my 11 year old daughter acknowledges my increased confidence, other friends and family members are eating more healthy diets, and others have added exercise to their lives. At work, I’m more focused and productive and at home I’m more energetic even though mopping floors, cleaning carpets, washing dishes, and dusting are not fun. No matter who is chosen a winner of the 8 week Transformation Contest, I’m already a winner because I was chosen to participate with the great group and leaders. Plus I’m on the road to losing the next 50# and regaining my pre-Mom size 6 body and mind! Thanks BJ, Naomi, Topher, and participants for a great 7 weeks. Let’s go get it in the last week!

Crank it!

Dropped 11 lbs and A Clothing Size in the Last 8 Weeks!

My official weight at the start of the contest was 177.8.  My weight today is 166.4.

Down 11.4 lbs.  I was wearing a size 12 at the start of the contest, now a size 10.

For me, I guess the last 7 weeks is more about I’ve gained, then what I’ve lost.  Most importantly; strength. And I don’t mean I my biceps or my core. This strength comes from the support I’ve gotten from the members of the group.  The last couple months have been tough and I don’t think I would gotten through them going it alone.  Even though my muscles were weaker when I started this weight loss journey 11 months ago it was easier then than it is now.  Back in April of ‘08 I was only working out once a day and I dropped 5 lbs each week for 4 consecutive weeks.  In the last the last 7 weeks I’ve just been bouncing around between 177 & 166 and I’m pushing myself to do two-a-day workouts!  But I keep coming back; mostly because I’m part of a group and we’re all in this together.

As I grew up, I never really cared about what I ate, or if I exercised.  I was always tired, and had little motivation to do anything. I was a fat kid.  As I grew into an adult, not much changed.  I tried to diet, tried to lose weight, but whatever weight I lost, I would quickly gain back.  At one point I weighed almost 270lbs!  I have always had a larger, big boned frame, so I always thought I could never look fit, or be a skinny guy.  I would continue to do my simple workouts but that just was not cutting it anymore and I was unhappy with the way I looked.  I wanted to be able to mow my lawn without my shirt on and not be ashamed of my rolls.  I wanted to feel comfortable at the gym and have a body I was proud of. I wanted to be sexy! Then I heard of Get Sexy Boot Camps!  This program has been life changing and BJ and Naomi rock!  I went into the program with a history of eating lots of carbs and not really watching what I ate while just doing regular exercise.  I was a food person with a large appetite who would overindulge in junk food.  I wanted change and I wanted it bad.  Once I met BJ and Naomi, I wanted it even more.  I did not want to be the ‘fat kid’, I wanted to burn fat, and see my abs.  I was more committed then ever and BJ knew it!  I was ready to crank it! I was not going to disappoint myself or let BJ and Naomi down and I wanted to win this contest, not just to win, but for myself.  I started the program at 229lbs in November, and today I weigh in at about 195lbs, depending on the day and my waist has gone from 38″ to a 33″/ 34″.  I have had to purchase new jeans and most of my suits have been sent to the tailors.  What it really came down to for me was hitting my fat loss from all angles.  Clean, healthy, natural food, and lots of protein to fuel my body, intense boot camp workouts to burn fat and build muscle, and plenty of grueling cardio workouts to aid in burning more fat.  Out of the three elements, my diet was the most important aspect which has helped me get the results through this life changing experience and a physique I am getting happier about. I Once I decided to become more disciplined with the foods I consumed, the results became far more noticeable. The diet plan and grocery trip to Whole Foods, was incredibly valuable and key to my fat loss.  Adhering to the plan was very challenging for me since I was eliminating all the foods I was used to eating and overloading on.  The first three days were horrific, I just wanted to indulge in pizza and ice cream, but I refrained.  I wanted the results, and wanted them bad!  Once I got past the first few days, the diet became simpler, and packing my lunches for work was not as bad as I thought.  Eventually my cravings went away.  The new diet, along with the intense workouts have helped me immensely the past couple months. I have accomplished changing my diet, which I never thought I could do and I amazingly eliminated alcohol! I have become more conscience of what I eat, and my individual workouts have changed to more intense, interval fat burning workouts.  Another important factor to my success is I have NOT missed a boot camp since the beginning of the contest and have committed myself 100% to losing weight and burning fat.  I have been cranking it like crazy! The morning workouts are killer, and I sweat like a hog with streams of sweat running down my face and soaking my shirt.  It feels great, and I feel I always give it my best during the workouts to look sexier.  The variety of exercises we do are great.  Along with not having missed a workout, I have maintained my membership at the Wisconsin Athletic Club, where I have worked out daily doing cardio exercises even on days where I already had boot camp in the morning. Double workouts most days!  I work a crazy schedule, and getting workouts in was not always easy, but I was 110% committed and this was my #1 priority and continues to be.  I was not about to miss a workout, and risk losing everything I have worked so hard for or risk losing a chance at being one of the finalists.  Thank you so much for running this business and changing people’s lives. You have definitely changed mine.  I have seen great results, but let it be known that I am NOT finished yet!  I have some more fat to lose and I still remain committed to getting to where I want to be.  I do hope you will consider me as one of the finalists for the contest as I feel I have worked extremely hard on a daily basis through, diet and exercise to achieve these results.  I feel I have always been upbeat throughout the contest (even at 5:45AM), and been motivating to others.  I busted my butt to look sexy and have cranked it real hard! Plus I could really use a little relaxation, pampering and a vacation!  Sorry for a very long “brief paragraph”!

Thanks for all you do!

Tom

My physical accomplishments in the last 7 weeks…..

…have been dramatic to say the least.  I have lost 17 pounds to date and have dropped 2 pants sizes.  This is so amazing and I am so grateful.  I am accomplishing more than I ever thought possible and am stronger now than ever before in my physical fitness ventures. I would love to win one of the prizes of this contest because I feel that I have earned it.  This has changed my life and the lives of my children in many ways.  We are all eating healthier and for the first time in my life as a parent I feel like I am a good role model for my children.  I also feel in control of my weight and the skies the limit.  I have also discovered that if I really work hard during my time in the boot camps and at home I will see the results I have always wanted.  Though it is hard to tell in the pictures that I have lost 17 pounds I feel great and my clothes all fit different!  Winning the first prize would allow me to continue the work out without interrupting and will keep me on track to reaching my goal of loosing 100 pounds!

WHY SHOULD I WIN?

before-shelley-unsworth2

I went to the doctor yesterday for a check up and went through the usual routine, blood pressure, temperature, and weight.  For the first time in a very long time I was not nervous at all about getting on the scale, especially when I knew they would see my previous weight.  I can’t tell you how good it felt that the nurse had to start with the big weight on the 100 mark, not 150, not 200.  Some people may take this for granted or some may not even think about it, but when you are someone who has been trying so hard for years to lose weight this is a pretty big deal.  My weight in December of 2007 was 182, my next appointment in July of 2008 weight was at 171.  When I weighed in yesterday my weight was at 138!! (at the start of the 8 weeks I weighed 150, size 12, now size 8)   My doctor was thrilled about the weight loss and could not believe how much my blood pressure was down (it was perfect actually)!!  We also went through a list of medications that I was supposedly taking and there were 11 medications on that list, including blood pressure meds, and several different kinds of asthma meds.  We were able to take all but 2 of them off the list!!  The nurse said I am a perfect example of what a person can do all by there self to improve their health.  I felt so good!!

I really think that everyone who is participating in this Boot Camp is a winner.  I see women and men in every class I go to that I think, wow!  They should be so proud of themselves!!  And when I see or hear someone say that they are trying to keep up with me, or using me as a guide it makes me proud that I can do that for them.  I work as hard as I can in every class for myself but also just in case someone is watching me to get the most they can get out of the class.  I feel that if I slacked or didn’t do my best I would not get what I wanted to out of the session but also I would not be pushing or motivating anyone else.  We all know that we need to be pushed on some days.  I am proud of what I have accomplished these last 7 weeks, I feel great, and I am so thankful to BJ and Naomi and everyone in all the classes for giving me the push I need.  This is truly a life-changing event for me, for my family, and for everyone around me.  I smile more, I play with my kids more, my hockey game has improved, I have more energy to do everything I need to do on a daily basis, not to mention how SEXY I feel.  I am not done after these 8 weeks are up, you don’t just stop.  Living a healthier life is something you need to work at every day.

I have a lot of other stories like the one above that I can share.  Thanks BJ and Naomi!!  I should win because I am a rock star!!

Transformation? Yes! Easy? Nothing worth it ever is.

I have had juvenile diabetes since I was five years old. It’s hard for a five year old to understand why it is so important to keep you blood sugars level at all times. When I had a seizure at age 6 because my blood sugar dipped way too low, I started to understand. So, I had to make sure I didn’t go too low, but I also had to make sure I didn’t have high blood sugars. Over time, high blood sugars cause complications…kidney failure, nerve damage and blindness are just a few. Most people take level blood sugars for granted (your pancreas does all the work), but diabetics don’t have this and have to take insulin shots and monitor this every hour, every day. I have struggled with this all my life and it has stopped me from doing things I wanted to experience.

The Get Sexy Transformation program has truly helped me-more than I could ever explain. Before it, high and low blood sugars were an every day occurrence. Now, I am truly surprised when it happens. You have no idea how good that feels. I challenged myself to get in better shape, and I did. I got into those size four pants. What I never thought would happen is that I took control of my diabetes at the same time and did not let it control me or stop me as it had been doing for so many years.

I feel so much stronger and I feel insanely proud of myself. I reached my goal about two weeks ago and then just wanted more. I won’t let anything stop me now. I have been really working on better posture (mine is horrible). I am not completely there yet – I have a lot more rolling, stretching and control to do. But unlike before, when I felt this was something I could not change about my body and myself…now, I KNOW I can do it.

I have not missed a class (including Saturdays). Hard sometimes, but I have changed my attitude and know how much better it makes me feel. I have made twice-a-days several times also (work generally prevents me). If I couldn’t make it twice, I worked out on my own at home with the routines shown online by BJ. I started at 138 lbs and am now down to 128 lbs. I was in size 6 or 8 pants and am now in size 4. The pictures that I have attached probably don’t show a great deal of difference, but the swimming suit I have on is way too big now. And, for me, it’s not really about the size of my pants or swimming suit anymore, but the transformation in my health and confidence. I think, I may just have that “swagger” now.

Easy? No. Worth every minute? No doubt.

I would so appreciate winning this contest so that I can truly keep going, keep improving and stay healthy. Please vote for me! Whatever the outcome, thanks to you, BJ and Naomi, for always being there and always making me believe there is nothing I cannot accomplish. And, thanks to everyone in Boot Camp.. Seriously, you have all encouraged me to work harder…and be better.

Peace and sexiness to all.. J
